Dear Upper Loudoun Youth Football Community,

On behalf of Upper Loudoun Youth Football (ULYFL), I hope this letter finds your family healthy and well.  I am writing to provide our community with an update and information about the current status and expectations for our Fall Football and Cheer season.  These are unprecedented times and ULYFL will lean on national, state, and county guidance for the Fall season with the health and well-being of our children at the forefront of our decision-making process.  As of this writing, our Fall Football and Cheer season is expected to  proceed as scheduled  with very limited interruptions to the  Fall  season  dates.

Our fall preparations are in full swing, such as:

  1. Field allocation applications are submitted.

  1. Head Coach selections are nearly finished

  1. Football Camp (in partnership with Woodgrove High School) is set

  1. Jamboree planning is underway.

  1. Assessments are scheduled.

  1. Referees and Athletic Trainers are committed.

  1. Equipment has been reconditioned.

Plus, so much more.  We are expecting and excited to program a full fall schedule under our recently renewed and improved Loudoun Youth Football Association (LYFA) structure and rule modifications.

I hope you have seen our social media campaigns about wellness, and exercise and will encourage your athlete(s) to participate in staying “#ULYFL READY”.  Exercise and healthy eating habits are so important to the physical and mental health and well-being of our ULYFL community, and even more important in a time like this.

Additionally, with hopes of keeping our Community together using virtual technology, we have recently coordinated the ULYFL first-ever online game console football tournament.  We are hopeful that this medium will keep our athletes working together and playing together.  If you have any questions on this tournament, please email  .

You are probably, like me, concerned of the uncertainties brought on by the quarantine and its impact on the upcoming Fall Football season.  As such, we have modified our registration process this season in a manner that will allow you to register your athlete now for a small fee of $20.00.  This will guarantee that if you register now your athlete(s) are placed on a fall team.  If our fall season is cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this small fee will be refunded in full.  If we can play this fall, the balance of your registration will be due prior to our teams being drafted.  Recognizing that we are in unprecedented times, we have also published a  Scholarship program to cover fall fees  for our community to ensure that every child that wants to play in our league has the opportunity.  The expense of playing in our league should never prevent a child from playing this incredible game.  The logic behind this is not complex.  We know that there is a substantial uncertainty in the future, we know that times are tough for some families, and we also know that it is difficult to commit to the full expense of a fall season with so much uncertainty.  We are delighted to make these modifications so you can register early, with no risk.

On a personal note, my household is really looking forward to football season.  We are also learning new ways to balance the work-from-home and educate-from-home lifestyle while shuffling five children to include a newborn and nearly two-year-old.   We will have three of our five children cheering or playing football this season.  I find myself smiling randomly with thoughts of how hard my daughters work to lead our fans through cheering for their football teams.  I find myself reminiscing and smiling about my oldest son’s progress through our league and how 2020 will be his final year with ULYFL.  I am excited that our two youngest sons will soon be playing football in our league.  We cherish the memories and the bonds made through this league and the sharpening of those critical life skills of dedication, perseverance, and teamwork.  I am excited to get back on the fields.

On behalf of the ULYFL Board of Directors, we appreciate your continued support of this league and this great game.  We thank each and every one of our sponsors, volunteers, athletes, officials and fans for the support to make each season a success and we have no doubt that the 2020 season will be successful as well.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, concerns, or ideas.  We are all in this together and our community is stronger than ever.

Registration is OPEN, log in to www.ulyfl.com to register today.

Sincerely,
